Tuition Rewards for Employers SAGE's Tuition Rewards Program

SAGE's Tuition Rewards program is a college savings and investment plan like no other. Employees of companies who are partnered with SAGE can earn Tuition Rewards on their company provided 401(k) or other retirement savings plans.

Employers who wish to provide the guaranteed scholarship program to their employees do not need to have their benefit plans invested with any of the existing SAGE Financial Partners. As long as their employees are participating in the organization's savings vehicle, they are eligible for the Tuition Rewards Program. The key is that employees can demonstrate that they are growing assets that could be used to pay for college costs.

The program is open to more than just employers too. If your company provides benefit services to other companies, or you are a financial institution that manages 401(k) or other retirement savings plans offered by employees, you too can partner with SAGE to provide the Tuition Rewards Program to your clients and investors.

Tuition Rewards accrue like frequent flyer miles and are based on eligible assets. Each Tuition Rewards point is equal to $1 in scholarships at a SAGE member school and represents the minimum scholarship that a sponsored student will receive if he or she attends a participating college. For example, if a client has $20,000 (no minimum required) in her or her participating 401(k) plan, he or she will receive 1,000 Tuition Rewards Points annually ($20,000 x 5% = 1000).

  401(k) Value Tuition Rewards
Year 1 $50,000 2,500 points
Year 2 $60,000 3,000 points
Year 3 $67,000 3,350 points
Year 4 $75,000 3,750 points
Total Tuition Rewards : 12,600 Points

In the above example, after only four years, this employee would have accrued 12,600 Tuition Rewards Points; which is equivalent to a guaranteed minimum $12,600 scholarship at any of our member colleges and universities. There is no limit on the amount of points that an account holder can earn.

How it Works
What are Tuition Rewards?
SAGE Tuition Rewards is a unique private college savings program. Tuition Rewards Points are like frequent flyer miles - but for college tuition!

Tuition Rewards are discounts off tuition at participating colleges and universities that represent the minimum scholarship that an eligible student will receive if and when he/she attends a member institution. Schools count Tuition Rewards as part of their normal institutional and merit scholarships. For example, if a student has 10,000 Tuition Rewards Points, then he or she is guaranteed to receive a minimum scholarship of $2,500 per year over four years, at a SAGE member school.

Earning Tuition Rewards Points
Your Tuition Reward is typically calculated semi-annually and equals 2.5% of the value of your assets listed in the Tuition Rewards (5% annually). As your assets appreciate, so do your Tuition Rewards Points!

Here's an example: if you invest $10,000 with one of SAGE's Financial Partners, and assuming the asset does not increase or decrease in value, then you will earn 500 Tuition Rewards Points annually. If you hold this investment for five years, then you will accumulate 2,500 Tuition Rewards Points. The more you invest with our Financial Partners, and the longer that your are a SAGE member, the more Tuition Rewards Points you'll earn!
